ESET has a solid anti-malware engine, a useful firewall setting and a password manager that includes form filling and browser protection and good network security tools. Its parental controls and secure browser as well as anti-theft tools are all good however they aren’t outstanding. Contrary to many of its competitors, it doesn’t include the VPN service or microphone protection though it does provide remote screen capture and camera access so you can check out what a criminal is up to on your laptop or mobile.
The app has an appealing interface that is easy to grasp and operate for beginners, but also provides comprehensive information and power user features for those who need it. The company also provides excellent customer support, which can be accessed through their website or directly from the client by clicking a «support» tab located close to the bottom of the app.
ESET Internet Security’s status bar at the top of the screen displays the security it provides for your computer. It also provides detailed statistics on the protection. The software will notify you on the desktop, close to the system tray, when something important happens on your computer.
However the anti-phishing tools in the antivirus were a little too vigilant and it blocked quite a many websites that aren’t listed on PhishTank that I am confident in. It also checks USB storage devices when they are plugged into our laptop. This was irritating, as many other applications require permission.
